HOME IS WHERE THE HEART IS (TAKE IT IN BLOOD) (2021)

written by Shaquille-Aaron Keith

They say home is where the heart is,
But What to do if my heart isn’t?
A home filled with everything
But unconditionals and
No hinderance.

The walls peel,
The Aroma of dead carcass is in the air,
You’ve broken the hearts only shield,
Now I stand dripping
Like excess olive oil in thick hair.
I’ve given all that I could to make this house a home,
Trapped inside but the opposite is where
My mind does roam,
A sealed fate, with no escape
A life spent, With no repent,
Knowledge no longer gained
And put to good use,
But now a slave, who’s chances of escape are acute.

The floor beneath you is bloody from all your victims before me,
Took them for all they had,
Your ever looping story.
You get away with Murder,
And command others to do it for you,
A curse should one fall victim
To hopelessly adore you.

We’ve built a life, you and I...
From love to devastated,
Lauryn warned me of
These hills,
And how love can be miseducated.
A lesson well learned,
I owe it to what’s left of me
To get the freedom
I earned.
Because
I am a prisoner here,
That of my own will,
Shall it remain so til my heart beats still?

I must find a way to part ways,
And when the time does come,
I should hope my eyes do not flood,
Till then I give you the best of me...
Take it in blood
